Product Photography Tips for E-commerce Brands in Egypt

Aug 28, 20265 min read

Product photos are often the only thing standing between a scroll-past and an add-to-cart, yet they're the part of an online store most Egyptian e-commerce brands underinvest in relative to how much they spend driving traffic to see those photos.

Consistency matters more than a single great shot

A product page with five images shot in different lighting, backgrounds, and angles reads as unprofessional even if each photo individually looks fine. Fix a lighting setup, a background style, and a shooting angle once, and reuse that exact setup for every product. The resulting catalog looks like it came from one brand, not five different photographers.

Show the product the way it will actually be used

A flat, white-background shot answers "what is this," but a lifestyle or context shot answers "what will this do for me", and the second question is usually what actually drives the purchase decision. For most categories, a mix of both, one clean catalog shot plus one or two in-context shots, outperforms either alone.

Shoot for the platform, not just the product page

Egyptian shoppers browse Instagram and TikTok as much as they browse the website itself, so shoot with vertical crops in mind from the start rather than cropping a horizontal product shot after the fact and losing detail.

Light quality matters more than camera quality

A well-diffused light source and a clean background will outperform an expensive camera used with harsh, uneven lighting. If budget only stretches to one upgrade, spend it on lighting before spending it on equipment.

Batch your shoots

Photographing twenty products in one organized session, with the lighting and background already set, costs a fraction of photographing them five at a time across five separate sessions, and it's the single easiest way to keep a growing catalog visually consistent without the cost scaling linearly with it.
